Vaikuntham

Welcome to our little haven

Naming the house, just like you would name a child, is a long held tradition in India. It is a way to personalize the house and to familiarize it into your home. In older times, when a structured and organized addressing system was not available, the house name also allowed for address referencing.

Following this model, we have named our house too.

This day forth, our home and residence will be called Vaikuntham.

Vaikuntham - what's in a name?

In Hindu mythology, Vaikuntham is the residence of Vishnu. Vishnu, along with Brahma and Shiva, is one of the core trinities of Hindu mythology. While Brahma plays the role of creator, and Shiva plays the role of destroyer, Vishnu is the sustainer. In contemporary Hindu mythology, Vishnu has an even larger role through his reincarnations to help the world - during periods of distress.

However, as with any ancient religion and mythology there are many interpretations to the backstory of Vishnu and Vaikuntham. We invite you to find your own per your interest.
